THREE BRANCHES OF MILITARY
Garrison
Total (Nominal) Personnel (includes Logistic Personnel and Trainee Corps) = 30,000 soldiers
Combat Personnel = 10,000 soldiers
Military Units:
Regiment = 1000 soldiers
Brigade = 2-3 Regiments
Division = 2 Brigades
The quality of Garrison soldiers said to be as if they simply gave recruited adults guns. They’re thought to be the lowest level of soldier, at the other end of the spectrum from the elite guards of Wall Sina.
Military service is a way to obtain reliable food rations, so it is not uncommon for people to send younger sons into the military to reduce the number of mouths they have to feed. Many people only get real food for the first time by entering the military.
Total Personnel = 2000
Garrison Personnel the MP has command of = 3000
Total Manpower = 5000
Personnel Assigned per District = 200
Only the top 10 of each Trainee Corps every year can enter the Military Police.
Arbitrarily referred to as a “Division" as an status symbol despite having only 2000 members.This is one of the many reasons soldiers in the Garrison and the Survey Corps loathe the MP.
The MP investigate military affairs, act as the superiors of the Garrison, and can exercise behind-the-scenes influence over all internal affairs (not limited to the military). Have a secret police side as well. "The government within the government”.
Locally-assigned MP will supervise the Trainee Corps, oversee the Garrison, command fire-fighting efforts, etc. As elite police units, they arrest and detain political offenders, people charged with serious crime, etc.
For cases where the local police and politicians have colluded, or where nobility and royalty are involved, etc., the MP are given priority to investigate.
Survey Corps
Divided into Teams 1 through 10
Teams are lead by Team Leaders.
Team Leaders are directed by Squad Leaders.
The Commander commands the Squad Leaders.
If the Commander is unable to continue leading, or if the Survey Corps must be split up into smaller parties, the Squad Leaders have the authority to take command.
Team 1 (led by the Senior Team Leader) performs armed reconnaissance. They’re responsible for proceeding ahead of the Corps, discovering Titans, and signaling their location. Even if their parents/siblings get eaten, they must ignore it and return to report to the Commander.
Teams 8 through 10 are responsible for defending the horse-drawn supply carts.
These teams are always located at the center of the formation.
Standard to use an arrowhead/fishhook formation (allows Commander to lead), but V-shaped/wing-shaped formations (prioritizes enemy detection) have also been used.
These numbers are purely on paper and may change greatly depending on circumstances in the battlefield.
Total Personnel (Cavalry) = 300
Commander (e.g. Erwin Smith) = 1
Squad Leaders (e.g. Hange Zoe, Mike Zacharius) = 4
Senior Team Leader = 1
Team Leaders (e.g. Ness) = 8
Medical Officers = 6
Remuneration Officers (concurrent post w/ Team Leader) = 5
Veterinary Officers = 5
Soldiers = 270
Horses (including Reserves) = 600
